About Us

We are a large, independently owned Australian pharmaceutical group with a strong national footprint, operating over 50 retail stores across Australia. Our Brisbane Southside head office supports more than 600 employees nationwide and is home to a collaborative, friendly team of around 40 staff.

We operate in a fast-paced, growing environment with a lean, agile management structure and a strong focus on continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our close-knit finance team. This is a varied, hands-on role offering exposure across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accounting, and financial operations within a large, multi-entity retail and franchise group.

With more than 40 entities and an annual external audit, this role is ideal for someone looking to broaden their experience and develop their technical skills in a complex, high-volume environment.

You’ll report to the CFO and work closely with the Senior Accountant as part of a 7-FTE finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including high-volume imports and reconciliations

  • End-to-end payroll processing, including wages, locums, leave, terminations, and adjustments

  • Supporting month-end payroll and finance reporting

  • Managing inter-store employee charges

  • Monitoring and responding to shared finance inbox queries

  • Supporting ATO compliance, including BAS preparation and lodgement

  • Assisting with year-end external audits

Full training is provided. A sound understanding of month-end reconciliations is essential; payroll experience is an advantage.

About You

You’ll bring a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

Key Skills

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting

  • 1–3 years’ experience (public practice experience advantageous)

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Payroll experience across multiple entities (preferred)

  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • High integrity, reliability, and accountability

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks

What We Offer

We offer a dynamic, supportive workplace that values integrity, initiative, and growth. As a rapidly evolving organisation, you’ll gain exposure to a diverse business and learn alongside an experienced, collaborative team.

Our Benefits Include

  • Annual performance and salary reviews

  • Ongoing professional development

  • Company discount card

  • Free onsite parking

  • Monthly team lunches

  • A warm, supportive culture within a stable and growing organisation

If you are looking for a role that offers variety, learning opportunities, and exposure to a large, complex business then we would love to hear from you!
