Assistant Accountant

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant/Finance Officer to join a well-established and growing organisation in Cairns.

Reporting to senior management, this role plays a key part in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business while contributing to accurate month-end reporting and financial administration. This position would suit an experienced accounts professional who enjoys working with data, maintaining accuracy, and providing valuable support across multiple areas of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
• Daily financial transactions and account maintenance
• Bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
• Assisting with month-end processes and reporting
• Preparing and maintaining spreadsheets and financial data analysis
• Supporting senior management with financial information and reporting requirements
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
• Assisting with process improvements and administrative support within the finance function

• Previous experience in a finance, accounting, or bookkeeping role
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with large data sets, formulas, and reporting spreadsheets
• Strong reconciliation experience and attention to detail
• Sound understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
