Casual Independent Disability Support Worker (Contractor)

We are seeking a reliable and kind hearted Independent Support Worker (contractor) to join our team as a floater, providing coverage for sick leave, holidays, and occasional shifts as needed.

Our company is intentionally small, shaped around the needs of a single client. Over the years, we’ve chosen not to expand, allowing us to stay focused on providing consistent, attentive support to him and his family. This approach has enabled us to build a strong, trusting environment where care is personal. Our team operates very much like a family, supporting not only our client and his loved ones, but also one another.

Our client is a 27 year old young man. He is caring and cheeky with a side of stubbornness with a love of music, from The Wiggles to Elvis and lots in between.

 His familiar fun activities include:

• Social outings and being part of the community

• Zumba

• Learning to cook and being involved in simple meal preparation

• Visiting the library

• Going to the cinema

• Dining out and enjoying meals in the community

• Shopping and being involved in community activities

Sometimes he experiences challenges with communication, when he is upset it can be difficult for him to communicate his needs with us.  With the ongoing support of his mum and our team he is responding well to consistent, patient, and supportive approaches.

We’re looking for someone who understands that supporting a client means entering their home, not just a workplace. Respecting the client’s space, their choices, and the way they live is essential, with dignity at the heart of everything you do.

The position includes assistance with household tasks and housework as part of daily living support. You’ll be assisting with a mix of community access, in-home support, and skill-building activities, particularly around social participation, cooking, shopping, and household tasks.

This role would suit someone looking to add an extra shift to their current roster or someone looking to transition into the disability support industry.

Experience is an advantage, but not essential. Full training is provided in a warm, supportive environment.

This is a casual position with shifts offered on an as-needed basis

Essential Requirements

• ABN (we can assist you to set this up)

• Yellow Card

• Blue Card (or willingness to obtain – support provided)

• Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance ($10m cover each)

• Valid Driver’s Licence & reliable vehicle

• Comprehensive car insurance & roadside assistance

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module
