The Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Foster and Kinship Care Team Leader to join a passionate team based in either Rockhampton or Gladstone.
In this leadership role, you will oversee a team responsible for the recruitment, assessment, training, and ongoing support of foster and kinship carers. You will play a key role in ensuring children and young people are placed in safe, nurturing environments while maintaining compliance with legislative, licensing, and organisational requirements.
This position is ideal for an experienced people leader who is passionate about child protection, carer support, and delivering positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading and managing a team delivering foster and kinship care services
  • Overseeing carer recruitment, assessment, training, and ongoing support
  • Ensuring placements provide safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children and young people
  • Monitoring compliance with licensing requirements, legislation, and service standards
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, and professional support to team members
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Supporting service delivery outcomes through effective planning, reporting, and performance management
  • Participating in an on-call roster to provide support to carers and the service as required
  • Promoting trauma-informed, child-focused, and strengths-based practice across the program

What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within foster care, kinship care, child protection, family support, or a related community services setting
  • Strong understanding of child protection frameworks, trauma-informed practice, and carer support models
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary environments
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and achieve service outcomes within a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children, young people, and families
Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Psychology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum three years' experience leading teams in a similar role
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Blue Card
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant screening and compliance checks
