Your new role

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will provide peer support, facilitate groups, contribute to recovery planning and help ensure consumer perspectives remain central to service delivery.

As a Peer Recovery Support Worker, you will:

  • Share your lived experience to support consumers on their recovery journey
  • Assist consumers to identify strengths, set goals and develop recovery plans
  • Advocate for consumer perspectives and recovery-oriented practice
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to complement clinical services
  • Support service improvement initiatives and consumer engagement activities

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery
  • Is comfortable drawing on their lived experience to support and inspire others
  • Has a genuine passion for peer work and recovery-oriented practice
  • Demonstrates empathy, resilience and strong interpersonal skills
  • Can build positive relationships with consumers, carers, families and service providers
  • Maintains professional boundaries while fostering authentic connections
  • Has strong communication and computer skills

Experience in mental health services, community services or peer support roles will be highly regarded. A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent) is desirable.

Identified Role

This is an identified position under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld). Applicants must have personal lived experience of mental illness and recovery through the use of mental health services (public or private) and provide a statement addressing this requirement within their application. Only candidates who meet this requirement will be considered.
