Kalyan Youth Service is a values‑driven community organisation committed to supporting young people to feel safe, connected, and empowered to reach their full potential. We work alongside young people, families, and community partners to create positive and lasting change.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team and deliver strengths‑based, culturally responsive support to young people experiencing vulnerability.

  • Build trusting, meaningful relationships with young people

  • Provide practical, emotional, and advocacy support tailored to individual needs

  • Facilitate group programs, workshops, and activities

  • Deliver outreach and centre‑based youth support services

  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and community stakeholders

  • Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to reporting requirements

  • Uphold child safety, organisational policies, and professional boundaries

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is compassionate, resilient, and youth‑focused

  • Has experience working with young people facing complex or challenging circumstances

  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Can work both independently and as part of a supportive team

  • Is committed to inclusive practice and cultural safety

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work (or higher qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work or similar)

  • Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

  • National Police Check

  • Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)

  • Driver’s licence and ability to travel as required

Desirable

  • Experience in case management or group program facilitation

  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed and strengths‑based practice

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people
