Science Teacher (Secondary)

We invite candidates to apply for the role of Secondary Science Teacher.

This will be a full-time parental leave cover contract commencing Monday 13 July 2026 through to Friday 18 June 2027.

Candidates with experience teaching Senior Biology and/or Senior Physics will be considered favorably.

The position

Responsible to the Head of Secondary, you will act under the direction of the Heads of Faculty, developing and delivering a contemporary, innovative Science curriculum underpinned by clear expectations and high-quality learning outcomes.

You will spark curiosity, build character, and turn problem‑solving into a creative journey. As a cornerstone of our curriculum, you will be passionate about the role science plays in equipping students to be critical thinkers, problem-solvers and analytical.

Through high-quality teaching, you will support students to develop a deep understanding of the natural and physical worlds, where they can make informed decisions, and engage with increasingly complex and technology-driven challenges.

• Demonstrated experience as a Secondary Science Teacher including the ability to apply the QCAA Senior Syllabus for Biology and/or Physics.
• Demonstrated ability to embed scientific proficiency - understanding of scientific concepts, apply scientific methods, analyse evidence and communicate findings - in a contemporary science curriculum.
• Current tertiary qualifications as specific to the role.
• Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
• Commitment to the Uniting Church ethos and an inclusive College community.
