Systems Engineer
Contract (3–6 Months) | Brisbane CBD | Immediate Start | Major Rail Infrastructure Project
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join a high-profile infrastructure program in Brisbane CBD. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's most significant public transport projects, working within a multidisciplinary team delivering complex rail systems integration and project outcomes.
This contract role offers an immediate start, a collaborative project environment, and the opportunity to play a key role throughout the systems engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply systems engineering principles across the full project lifecycle, including requirements management, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs), requirements registers, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Manage interfaces between civil, rail systems, signalling, communications, power, and operational subsystems.
  • Support the planning and execution of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, testing, and commissioning requirements.
  • Facilitate interface coordination workshops and stakeholder meetings.
  • Identify, assess, and manage systems-level risks and contribute to safety assurance activities.
  • Collaborate closely with design, construction, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
About You
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Systems Engineering on major rail, transport, defence, or complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability managing complex interfaces across multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Familiarity with rail systems standards and infrastructure delivery frameworks.
  • Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Full Australian working rights and availability to work on-site in Brisbane.
