About the role

You will be part of a team, working alongside two HR Advisors and an HSE Coordinator to support managers and employees across the Mackays Group.

You will also support the delivery of Human Resources and Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives. This is a varied and hands-on role where you will work closely with managers and employees to promote a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with HR, safety, and environmental requirements.

You will play a key role in recruitment, employee relations, training, workplace safety, incident management, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business. This is a permanent full-time position offering long-term stability and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide HR advice and support to managers and employees across the business

  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and employee induction processes

  • Assist with employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations

  • Maintain employee records, HR systems, and compliance documentation

  • Coordinate training programs, workforce development initiatives, and employee engagement activities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and programs

  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities

  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions

  • Manage workers compensation, rehabilitation, and return-to-work processes

  • Facilitate safety training, toolbox talks, and compliance programs

  • Monitor environmental compliance requirements and assist with audits and reporting

  • Analyse HR and HSE data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Human Resources, Workplace Health & Safety, or similar

  • Knowledge of Australian employment legislation and workplace health and safety regulations

  • Strong employee relations and stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities

  • High level of computer literacy and experience with HR systems and reporting

  • Relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Workplace Health & Safety, Business, or a related field preferred

  • Current Australian driver's licence

  • Full working rights in Australia
