The role of the Veterinary Services Technician is to provide administrative, logistical and operational support to all aspects of Evogene field activities. The company is in a rapid growth phase and this position requires someone with a fast-paced mindset with the willingness to upskill to become responsible for field reproductive work. <h3>Benefits</h3> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3>Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)&nbsp;To ensure the safety of workplace participants and to work towards zero harm by: ·&nbsp;<ul><li>Adhering to all Evogene’s HSE policies, procedures and rules; ·&nbsp;</li><li>Identifying and reporting any hazards immediately; ·&nbsp;</li><li>Actioning any safety concerns/risks and escalate to management if necessary; ·&nbsp;</li><li>Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.</li></ul>People &amp; culture&nbsp;Help foster a positive team culture by: ·&nbsp;<ul><li>Living and demonstrating Evogene’s Vision, Values and Behaviours; ·&nbsp;</li><li>Participate in individual and team training and development; ·</li><li>Participating in performance reviews feedback sessions, listening to and providing feedback; ·&nbsp;</li><li>Following all Evogene’s policies, procedures and practices.</li></ul>Administrative and Logistics<ul><li>Assist with the preparation of all field and laboratory documentation.</li><li>Capture and document OPU field, laboratory and transfer data according to the Evogene systems, ensuring a high level of accuracy and integrity.</li><li>Assist with all aspects of cleaning and equipment packing for field work.</li><li>Reporting of field work outcomes</li></ul>Field:<ul><li>Work alongside OPU Veterinarians and other Field Technicians on farm to acquire oocytes from the field and deliver to the main laboratory.</li><li>Work alongside Field technicians to perform on farm search and classification of oocytes and complete accurate data recording during OPU</li><li>Work alongside Field technicians to warm, load and transfer embryos for embryo transfer in the field</li><li>Assist with driving to and from field locations</li></ul>Genetics:<ul><li>Assist in the receiving, processing, storage and data management of genetic material.</li><li>Ensure all genetics are handled with excellent care and within the Evogene SOPs to maintain integrity and viability.</li><li>Ensure all operational canisters and shippers are maintained by regular (fortnightly) liquid nitrogen replenishment according to Evogene SOPs.</li></ul>General Evogene employee responsibilities:<ul><li>Perform any other duties within your capability as directed by your supervisor</li><li>Participate in ongoing professional development and training</li><li>Work collaboratively across all teams to ensure duties are performed in a timely manner utilising efficient staff resources to maximise all operations.</li><li>Maintain confidentiality regarding Evogene’s business operations and clients.</li><li>Project a professional and positive image of the Evogene brand.</li><li>Compliance, continuous improvement and effective execution of our Quality Management Systems</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Degree qualified in areas of veterinary technology, veterinary science, animal embryology, science or reproductive science or equivalent experience</li><li>Relevant knowledge or background in client management software systems</li><li>Relevant knowledge or background in data management and statistical analysis&nbsp;</li><li>Relevant knowledge or background of Beef Cattle industry</li><li>Relevant knowledge or background in assisted Reproduction Industry</li><li>Relevant knowledge or background in embryology and IVP</li><li>Understanding of IETS guidelines and standards</li><li>Computer literate - excellent user of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook Ability work as part of a team&nbsp;</li><li>Previous experience in data collection, documentation and analysis.&nbsp;</li><li>Previous experience in laboratory workplaces&nbsp;</li><li>Previous experience in embryo, semen &amp; liquid nitrogen handling&nbsp;</li><li>Manual driver’s license and experience towing trailers&nbsp;</li><li>Selection and classification of oocytes after OPU&nbsp;</li><li>Warming and assessment of embryos in the field and preparation for transfer&nbsp;</li><li>Inventory management&nbsp;</li><li>Research collaboration and/or execution</li></ul>
