About the role
As the Senior M365 Cloud Technical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in initiating and setting cloud roadmaps including the ongoing support and evolution of the department’s Cloud environments. This role is critical to the technical planning and management of services in Azure, M356 and Active Directory. Design future state architecture informed through technical business analysis and discovery aligning to enterprise architecture plans.
You will be responsible for ensuring the platform is secure, compliant, optimised for performance, and aligned to the needs of our workforce with minimal downtime. You will also provide technical leadership and work closely with IT operations, security, development, support teams, and business stakeholders to enable collaboration, productivity, and digital service delivery.
Key responsibilities
As the Senior M365 Cloud Technical Specialist, you will:
- Set future state roadmap for M365 platform prioritising ASD recommendations and ML1\2 mapping dependencies based on provided inflight milestones from other government activities and agencies.
- Design and present architecture to relevant forums and raise relevant changes for implementation ready for project initiation and delivery setting dependencies and milestones. (Defender Suite) (Power Platforms - CoE) (M365 Purview – Audit\DLP)
- Set, communicate and influence M365 standards, governance and lifecycle practises – Teams \ Exchange Online \ M365 Groups \ OneDrive \ SharePoint \ Power Platform
- Initiate, influence and mange value realisation initiatives for existing M365 and Azure licensing model informing upcoming Enterprise Agreement
- Act as the technical lead and administrator for the Microsoft 365 platform, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID and Azure AD B2C.
- Assist with leading, preparing artifacts and working through remediation activities related to Government Audit requirements
- Manage and maintain tenant configurations, licensing, compliance policies, security baselines, and governance settings.
- Lead and support the technical transition of the M365 environment from the incumbent vendor to internal support.
- Own identity and access management, including MFA, conditional access policies, and privileged identity management.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, reporting, and alerting for platform health, performance, usage, and security.
- Drive automation and service improvement initiatives using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and M365 tools like Power Automate.
- Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for service incidents, platform changes, and stakeholder inquiries.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure the platform meets government security requirements and supports data protection standards.
- Support change management and adoption activities by providing input into training, documentation, and communication for end users.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft 365 roadmap updates and assess impact on the organisation’s platform and practices.
