We are seeking a Technical Officer to join a Council in remote Central West Queensland for a 12-month contract commencing as soon as possible.

This role will provide critical support to Council's Civil Team, including the Director of Works, assisting with the collection, coordination and reporting of infrastructure, maintenance and disaster recovery information.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual who enjoys working across field operations and administration. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setting out of worksites and capture survey information using Trimble technology.
  • Record inspections, maintenance activities and asset information through Civica Reflect.
  • Support disaster recovery projects using Civica Recovery.
  • Capture photographs and associated data relating to damaged infrastructure using TMR RADAR.
  • Utilise GoPro technology to document flood damage works, project progress and completed works.
  • Maintain and update mapping and GIS systems.
  • Assist with project expenditure tracking, reporting and documentation.
  • Coordinate and consolidate information from multiple operational and administrative sources.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Civil Team and Director of Works and Operations.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Strong computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn new software and technologies.
  • Excellent organisational and data management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in civil construction, engineering, infrastructure, surveying, GIS, local government or project administration.
  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Infrastructure Management or a related discipline is desirable.
Recent Civil Engineering graduates looking to gain valuable hands-on experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
