About the Role

Working under the direction of the Learning Area Leader (Industrial Design & Technology), the Teacher Aide (Industrial Design & Technology) supports the effective delivery of practical learning within the Industrial Skills workshops. The position plays a key role in supporting teaching staff and enhancing student learning outcomes by maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and resource management.

The appointment is a part‑time, term‑time position of three days per week (Wednesday to Friday), commencing in Term Three 2026 on a permanent basis. During holiday periods, there may be opportunities for additional hours.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

• Prepare, organise and maintain resources, materials, and equipment for practical classes and demonstrations.
• Ensure workshop spaces are clean, organised, and safe at all times, including visible Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), general housekeeping and storage.
• Ensure correct and consistent use of PPE by checking that students are wearing required safety equipment (such as goggles, hearing protection, gloves, and aprons), assisting them with proper fitting and adjustment, and reinforcing safe habits during all practical activities.
• Set up and pack down practical lessons, ensuring all materials, tools, and machinery are ready for student use and returned safely afterward.
• In collaboration with the Learning Area Leader, implement and promote best practices for efficient and safe workshop operations.
• Support teachers during practical lessons, including demonstrating safe use of tools and equipment under supervision.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Relevant trade qualification or such industry experience, knowledge and skills that are deemed by the College as necessary to successfully carry out the duties of the position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and safe operating procedures.
• Sound knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety practices, including hazardous materials handling
• Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills.
