Job Description: Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer / Special Counsel

Position Title: Special Counsel / Principal Candidate

Practice Group: Commercial Litigation, Corporate Disputes & Technology Law

Firm Type: Doyle's Guide-Recognised Premium Boutique

Location: Brisbane CBD

Target Seniority: 8-15+ years PAE

Billing Structure: Premium ($720+/hour benchmark)

About the Firm

We are  a premier, Doyle's Guide-recognised boutique firm based in Brisbane's CBD. We operate at the absolute apex of the market, acting for high-net-worth individuals, corporate innovators, and well-funded founders. Unlike traditional generalist firms, we sit uniquely at the intersection of complex commercial risk, high-stakes fraud, and cutting-edge technology law.

We are small by design but clear on our value: we handle top-tier, complex disputes without the bureaucratic friction of a traditional national firm.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a heavyweight Senior Commercial Litigator / Special Counsel to join our practice. This is not a role for a standard associate looking to assist; this is a strategic appointment for an elite practitioner capable of taking immediate carriage of high-stakes, multi-million dollar disputes in premium jurisdictions.

You will work directly alongside the Principal on flagship matters, commanding a premium billing rate structure ($720/hr) that reflects the sophistication and complexity of our caseload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Premium Advocacy: Take leading carriage of high-value civil and commercial litigation files across the Supreme Court of Queensland and the Federal Court of Australia.

  • Complex Corporate Disputes: Strategise and execute actions involving high-level shareholder disputes, corporate fraud, asset recovery, and complex breaches of contract.

  • Asset Preservation: Frequently manage and secure urgent equitable remedies, including freezing orders (Mareva injunctions) and search orders.

  • Interdisciplinary Advisory: Advise corporate clients on high-stakes risks emerging from digital transformation, cyber security breaches, data privacy failures, and intellectual property disputes.

  • Client Stewardship: Maintain and deepen relationships with sophisticated corporate entities and high-net-worth founders, acting as a trusted boardroom advisor.

What We Are Looking For

  • 8-15+ Years PAE: A proven track record in pure commercial litigation, ideally developed within an elite top-tier, prominent mid-tier, or recognized specialist boutique environment.

  • Jurisdictional Focus: Extensive, hands-on exposure to Supreme and Federal Court practice and procedure. (Note: This practice strictly focuses on superior courts; no local court, QCAT, or standard tribunal work).

  • Technical Sophistication: Deep intellectual curiosity regarding tech, IP, privacy, or fraud investigations. Specialist Accreditation in Commercial Litigation is highly regarded.

  • Zero-Ego Leadership: Exceptional legal mind paired with commercial pragmatism, high emotional intelligence, and a collaborative, non-hierarchical approach to practice management.

  • No Disallowed Niches: This role is strictly for corporate/commercial litigators. Backgrounds strictly in personal injury, family law, criminal defense, or volume conveyancing will not align with the practice portfolio.

What We Offer

  • Elite Remuneration: A highly competitive, market-leading salary package that accurately rewards your tier of seniority and expertise.

  • True Autonomy: The freedom to run complex, high-profile files without being swallowed by a massive corporate machine.

  • Modern Flexibility: A genuine hybrid working model (including 2 days WFH) and flexible hours built on mutual trust.

  • Strategic Progression: Clear, transparent pathways toward firm partnership or equity for a high-performing practitioner who demonstrates long-term alignment.
