We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking & driven Marine Technician to join our dynamic team with a diverse portfolio including high-speed ferries, superyachts, and Naval Vessels, we offer a stimulating work environment with a range of projects and challenges.


The Company

We are a leading supplier and service provider of innovative marine equipment throughout Australasia. Our services include the supply, installation, maintenance, and support of advanced marine systems. We work closely with leading marine operators, government agencies, manufacturers, and distributors across the region. Our customers include Sydney Ferries, Port Authority of New South Wales, and Australian Defence Force.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of marine systems and equipment, including CCTV, propulsion, navigation, and communication systems.

  • Identify faults and implement effective corrective actions to minimise equipment downtime.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Install and commission marine equipment and systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.

  • Ensure all installations are tested and fully operational prior to handover.

Inspection and Testing

  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, performance, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Fault Diagnosis and Technical Problem Solving

  • Diagnose technical issues using diagnostic tools, software, manuals, and technical documentation.

  • Develop and implement practical solutions to resolve equipment and system failures.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance activities, repairs completed, parts utilised, test results, and labour hours.

  • Prepare service reports and documentation in accordance with company procedures.

Customer Support

  • Provide professional and responsive customer service, including technical support, training, and advice to clients.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies, and safe work procedures.

  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards.

Training and Professional Development

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marine technologies, products, and industry developments through ongoing training and professional development.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with technicians, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.

  • Contribute to a positive team culture and support colleagues when required.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, meeting company quality expectations and customer requirements.

  • Promote continuous improvement in service delivery and operational processes.

Key Requirements

Applicants must have an extensive working knowledge of a broad range of marine equipment, including navigation, communication & AV. Mechanical skills would also be desirable, as we work on a range of propulsion systems. The successful applicant will work on a variety of jobs including commercial projects & private service calls.

Candidates must demonstrate practical installation experience with marine navigation systems.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3-4 years of marine electronics experience.

Applicants must meet the following:

Essential:

  • Possess excellent time management skills.

  • Strong problem solving, communication & reporting skills.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics/drawings.

  • Able to use initiative to book in upcoming jobs & take ownership of the service department.

  • Able to work well with other professionals & tradespeople on larger jobs.

  • Current & valid manual driver's licence.

  • Capable of operating independently.

  • Must possess Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.

Desirable:

  • Experienced in the installation of marine electronics for commercial & pleasure vessels.

  • The ability to work on hydraulic steering & fault-find at circuit board level.

  • Knowledge of common software (AutoCad, Rhino, Fusion360)

  • Current passport.

In this role, you will utilise your extensive knowledge of marine equipment to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of systems. While a trade qualification and hands-on experience are preferred, we are committed to providing full training to the right candidate.
