About the role


We have a rare opportunity for a 1st year or 2nd year Maintenance Apprentice, to join our supportive and experienced team at our Coopers Plains manufacturing plant.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our production equipment and machinery. You’ll gain hands-on experience across both planned maintenance activities and breakdown response, while working in a collaborative, continuous improvement environment.
 

What you’ll learn
 

This apprenticeship will build on your existing training and provide valuable exposure to:

  • Hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Extrusion equipment

  • Preventative and reactive maintenance practices

  • Manufacturing plant systems and processes
     

You’ll work alongside skilled tradespeople who will mentor and support your development throughout your apprenticeship.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assisting with planned maintenance and repair work

  • Supporting breakdown response activities

  • Learning to diagnose faults and implement effective solutions

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

  • Prioritising work requests entered in the CMMS maintenance system

  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and best practice standards

  • Attend and complete all tertiary requirements for the duration of your apprenticeship.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Satisfy the requirements for commencing a Maintenance/Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship or currently completing a Fitter apprenticeship

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Sound decision-making, organisation and time management skills

  • Can work well on your own or in at team and able to use your initiative

  • Safety focused with good attention to detail

  • Punctual, reliable, personable with a good work ethic, flexible and a can-do attitude

  • Enjoy working hands on with an interest in mechanical tasks and processes

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with manual handling

  • Are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Car and Driver’s Licence (desirable)
